An exciting opportunity has arisen within the specialty of Gastroenterology. The newly created post will be a rotational position which will be primarily based upon Ward 230 with a secondment to the Endoscopy unit. The successful applicant will be joining a very successful team that has a fantastic culture that complies with all of the Trust Values. Ward 230 is a friendly, fast paced, 36 bedded acute medical ward specialising in Gastroenterology and Hepatology conditions.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individuals who are looking for a challenging and rewarding post where they can build on their skills and knowledge.

Candidates must be a first level registered nurse and the post would be suitable for a newly qualified nurse or an experienced nurse looking for a new challenge. The successful applicants will be responsible for assessing and caring for a group of patients and providing a safe and effective care pathway and must possess excellent communication skills.  You will need to work well within a team as well as on your own initiative.

Ward 230 requires the applicant to be flexible to the demands of the service and will require you to work shifts to cover the 7 day, 24 hour service including weekends and public holidays. We do offer self rostering in conjunction with the Trusts flexible working hours policy.

Both areas have a dedicated clinical educator who will facilitate all of your training requirements, in addition to the rest of the team who will offer excellent support. The successful applicants will work closely with specialised members of the multi-disciplinary team that includes CNS Liver, CNS Inflammatory bowel disease, CNS Nutrition, CNS Alcohol Liaison and Dieticians specialising in Gastro patients.

Endoscopy is now one of the most exciting areas within the Trust. Training will be provided in line with JAG - JETS workforce criteria. Furthermore staff receive training on a weekly basis from either a specialist nurse or from an outside company to ensure that we are working to the most up to date standards. The successful applicant will work on their own initiative and also as part of a wider team.
