We are seeking proactive and dynamic band 5 Nurse to work on our Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) here at UHNM. Our unit consists of 30 beds, 8 of which provide Hyper Acute Care.
We are one of the largest stroke units in the Country and one of 8 Hyper Acute research centres nationally; we currently see approx. 1200 stroke patients per year.
We were the first Trust to offer a Mechanical Thrombectomy rota 24/7 and we take patients from a wide geographical area. We have lower than average mortality rate and a low length of stay due to our good patient outcomes and support from our local Stroke Early Supported Discharge team (ESD).
There is a dedicated Stroke Early Assessment Team (SEAT) who provide 24/7 cover in-reaching into A and E to provide timely treatment and admission to the Acute Unit. We also run a high risk TIA clinic from the ward.
Successful candidates will be committed to providing high standards of care to our patients and be able to work in collaboration with our integrated therapy team and wider MDT to deliver the National Stroke Guidelines and Stroke Strategy.
We are keen to recruit individuals with caring and compassionate personalities, as excellent patient care is our priority. We offer extensive training including Stroke school, and a preceptorship package to develop knowledge and skills in this specialised area. These Skills will be transferable for individuals seeking career progression in the future.
We have several vacancies in this area due to career progression, including full time and part time posts.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
