An exciting opportunity has arisen within the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) Child Health Directorate at the Royal Stoke University Hospital (RSUH) site,

An opportunity has risen for a Band 7 Clinical Sister to support the Senior Matron and Matrons for Children’s Services in the delivery of their paediatric intensive care admissions of babies, children and young adult’s 0-18years.

We are a level 3 Children's Intensive Care Unit and work alongside the KIDs retrieval service. The unit is a purpose built, state of the art, 8 bedded unit and sits adjacent to a 4 bedded high dependency unit. 

RSUH is a £350 million state of the art hospital development that, along with County Hospital in Stafford, serves the population of Staffordshire and beyond, with both local and specialist tertiary services.

Main duties of the job

The Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke is a multifaceted and dynamic Children’s Hospital, The unit comprises of a level 3 Children’s Intensive Care Unit, High Dependency Unit, Acute Medical and Oncology Unit, Level 3 NNU, Children’s Outpatient Services at both RSUH and County hospital and specialist services for example Cystic Fibrosis, Endocrinology and gastroenterology

The unit is patient focused and receives extremely positive and complementary feedback regarding the delivery of patient services and child and family journey.

The unit has a supportive network of hospital play specialists and Trust Child Safeguarding team to support services on a day to day basis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for a candidate that can demonstrate strong clinical leadership and communication skills, is innovative and flexible and committed to evidence based care within the children’s surgical setting and services. Setting standards of care and monitoring and evaluating and action planning to ensure excellence is achieved within the ward environment continually.

Practical experience in innovation, leading change and implementing a quality initiative is essential as well as all aspects of Senior Nurse Management in Nurse establishment Human Resource Support, Education, training and development and well-being of the workforce
