Heart Centre - Band 6 Junior Sister/Deputy Ward Manager Ward 220 Acute Cardiology 

The Heart Centre at UHNM is a tertiary centre delivering high quality Cardiology & Cardiothoracic Surgery to the population of Staffordshire, Shropshire, East Cheshire & North Wales. The level of activity within the centre continues to grow year on year & we are proud to deliver exciting  programs such as TAVI, atrial appendage occlusion & MICAB (minimally invasive coronary artery bypass)

We have a 29 bedded acute cardiology ward providing care for patient with acute coronary syndrome, with arrhythmias, SBE, heart failure, post TAVI.  The unit provides 28 state of the art real time cardiac monitoring. 

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Junior Sister to join the management team in the Heart Centre. You will participate in innovative & evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership & supporting the clinical team in close liaison with the Senior Sisters. You will act as a credible & professional role model whilst developing both personally & professionally.

The successful candidate will work as a Junior Sister within an established Multi-disciplinary team delivering, monitoring and evaluating current care, whilst participating in the development of new ways of working and practices both clinical and administrative to enhance the excellent service we currently provide.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible, committed to the provision of excellent standards of care, a good communicator & motivated to build on existing professional development.

Essential criteria
  • NMC register part 1
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of degree level study in health/nursing related studies

experience

  • minimum 3 years post registration experience
Desirable criteria
  • 18 months of management/leadership experience in cardiothoracic critical care
  • experience of teaching the clinical areas

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of on-going professional education in a specialist area
  • Enhanced critical care nursing qualification
