This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly pharmacy team. If you have an interest in hospital pharmacy or currently working as a Community pharmacy this could be the role for you. We are currently have an opportunity for people to join our bank staff working weekend shifts in the dispensaries.

We have opportunities to work at both the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital.

You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and you will need to be able to work effectively with the existing team both at ward level and within the Pharmacy Department.

Main duties of the job

At RSUH the Pharmacy Directorate is a modern, purpose-built pharmacy department within the new hospital and we constantly strive to re-engineer our services to improve our delivery of patient focused pharmaceutical care. This includes a newly updated pharmacy computer system, integration of a robot into the dispensary, implementation of one stop dispensing and wireless electronic medicines management at the patient’s bedside.

The Pharmacy Department provide medicines management and medicines optimisation services from both sites. We have implemented a 7 day working service – delivering high quality pharmaceutical care to the patients of this Trust 7 days a week. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will work alongside Pharmacy Support Workers, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in providing a wide range of pharmaceutical services. Duties will include:

• Reception duties

• Dispensing at ward level and in the dispensary after a suitable period of training and assessment.

• Assembly of orders for distribution to wards, departments and external customers

• Provision of a top up service of stock medicines to nominated wards

• The receipt and supply of medicines and associated pharmaceutical items to wards and departments

Education and qualifications

NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services and at least 1 year experience in a Pharmacy setting.

OR

4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grade C or above and will work towards and successfully complete the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.

Experience

Ability to communicate with a wide range of people .

Ability to work as a team member and have the ability to work on own initiative, completing allocated work and ensuring rotas are complied with.

Computer literate with good general keyboard skills, for using the pharmacy computer systems, including ordering, receiving and stock and rectifying stock discrepancies.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services and at least 1 year experience in a Pharmacy setting. OR 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grade C or above and will work towards and successfully complete the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.
Desirable criteria
  • Conflict Resolution Training
  • NVQ level 2 in Customer Services

Experience

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people
