Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer 

This is a part time position ( job share post ) for a 12 month fixed term  period with the prospect of a substantive post after this time.  - 18.75 hours per week with a working  pattern of 3 days one week, 2 days the next. 

This will be supporting the Ophthalmology Service with aspects of care for the visual impaired for example 

Low Visual Aid Service

Sight registration 

Emotional support to blind and partially sighted people. providing of impartial information, guidance and advocacy to patients, their families and carers.

Carrying out of needs led assessment with patients referred to the service.

To promote and deliver visual awareness training within the Trust.

This will be covering a service of Monday to Friday 9-5 based at this time at the Royal Stoke Site but has the potential to change as the service develops and may include work at the County Hospital site going forward.

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within an acute trust
  • Experience in a patient liaison role

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated at Diploma / Degree Level or equivalent level of knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Practical experience

Skills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of providing information and support to blind and partially sighted people
  • Ability to support service delivery including appropriately referring patients into other professional services.
  • Ability to deal with emotional and stressful situations
  • Comprehensive Computer skills
  • High standard of communication skills both oral and written
Desirable criteria
  • knowledge of social care and community services
  • Ability to use the Trust patient administrative systems
