Job overview

Do you have an interest in delivering high quality care in a dynamic and forward thinking busy assessment and short stay unit? As a nursing assistant you would be working in a busy mixed surgical assessment Unit (SAU), Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit (SACU) and Surgical Short Stay Unit (SSSU). Here we provide holistic emergency care for all general surgical, vascular surgical. ENT, Plastics, Urological, gynaecological and maxillary facial specialities. 

SAU is dynamic, forward thinking and currently progressing through a transitional process of change within the working environment to examine change and look at the active implementation of new and exciting ways or working

As a nursing assistant within this area you will be trained to have extensive skills to support a highly motivated and established working team at the cutting edge of emergency surgery.  If you have the qualities to join this team and feel you can face the challenge of our unique clinical area offering both emergency assessment and inpatient care for a wide range of specialities then we would welcome your application.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Under supervision of a Registered Nurse assist with all aspects of essential
patient care.
· Respect patient privacy and dignity at all times
· Prepare equipment for medical and nursing staff for procedures
· Assist medical and nursing staff with procedures as required
· Act as a chaperone supporting patients undergoing examinations or procedures
· Escort patients to other areas of the Trust as directed by the Registered Nurse

Person specification

NVQ level 2 in Health and Social care essential

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2
  • Experience in Health Care Setting
Desirable criteria
  • Minimum requirement NVQ 2
  • Minimal experience in health care setting

NVQ level 3 in health and Social care

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2 or Above
Desirable criteria
  • Minimum requirement NVQ 2
