Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy for a  motivated, enthusiastic and innovative band 5 staff nurse to join the team.  This rotational position would offer enhanced skills working between the Ward area and the Endoscopy department.  

Ward 230 are a 35 bedded acute medical ward specialising in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.  

Endoscopy the post holder will work as a skilled member of the team to assist in the high level of care to patients.  Procedures including; OGD/Colonoscopy/Flexible sigmoidoscopy/Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)/Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)/Manometry/ Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

This opportunity will allow the individual to work as part of our dedicated, hardworking and friendly team in our JAG accredited Endoscopy unit within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

In this post you will be responsible for assessing and caring for patients and providing an effective care pathway within ward 230 and Endoscopy.  We are committed to developing a culture in line with the Trust values that will improve quality and enhance the patients' experience.  You will be able to play a vital part in developing new ways of working to achieve this goal.

We have a Clinical Educator specific to Gastroenterology and Endoscopy who will support you fully in developing the skills required in this speciality, in addition to the rest of the team who will offer excellent support and training.

Candidates must be a first level registered nurse and be flexible to the demands of the service.  You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes Clinical Nurse Specialists in Liver disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Nutrition, Gastro Dieticians, Alcohol Liaison and many more.

Excellent communication skills are essential for the post

You will be required to work at both County Hospital and Royal Stoke Hospital Endoscopy Units and contracted to work over 7 days a week.

Full and part time hours are available to cover a 7 day 24 hour service including weekends and public holidays.  We can also offer predominant night shifts in line with the flexible working hours policy if so desired for any further details please do not hesitate to contact Matron Procter
