An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, well motivated and progressive thinking individual to join the Sterile Services team.
The Department employs over 110 staff and provides a comprehensive service to 29 operating theatres, wards / departments and the local community. The service is fully accredited to BS EN ISO 13485 and Council Directive 93/42/EEC Annex V for Medical Devices. The department offers services to multiple specialities from a modern facility, which include : Cardiac, Neuro, Trauma, Orthopaedic, General surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, Plastics, Maxillo facial, flexible endoscope service to theatres.
Reporting to the Sterile Services Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the Unit, providing leadership, guidance, managerial and technical support to the existing team.
Duties include co-ordinating activities and resources to meet the production requirements for the processing of medical and surgical equipment. You will ensure that stringent quality standards are maintained through compliance with procedures, protocols and processes. Due to the specialist knowledge required, the role expects something of a ‘hands on’ approach.
You will be expected to make a significant contribution to further enhancement of the service and to be pro-actively involved in the seamless introduction of workloads and processes generated by new specialities, surgical advancements and decontamination guidance.
You should have proven leadership skills, the ability to motivate and develop the team to meet the increasing demands of an Acute Trust. You should have a flexible ‘problem solving’ approach to work, the ability to work on your own initiative, work well under pressure and possess excellent communication, planning and organisational skills. Ideally, you will be a member of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences and you must have experience / qualifications working within a Sterile Services environment,
