Band 7 Senior Sister / Charge Nurse 
The Heart Centre at the University Hospital of North Midlands is a tertiary Centre delivering high quality Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery to the population of Staffordshire, Shropshire, East Cheshire and North Wales. The level of activity within the Heart Centre continues to grow year on year and we are proud to be developing exciting innovative programs such as TAVI, Atrial appendage Occlusion and MICAB (minimally invasive coronary artery bypass) We deliver our services via 4 dedicated high catheter laboratories providing inpatient and outpatient invasive and diagnostic procedures for both our local population and tertiary population offering a daily treat and return service to the local DGH’s

Nursing leadership is imperative in the delivery of this care and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to lead  32 bedded cardiology ward, providing clinical leadership and management. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated nurse with effective leadership and organizational skills to join our team in striving for the highest standards of care for all our patients. The successful applicant will have substantial experience of working as a ward manager / deputy ward manager (band 6/7 ), experience of working in an acute cardiology environment, demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and be an excellent team member. They must have a positive outlook and ability to inspire and support the team.

Essential Criteria

  • First level registration
  • 3 years post registration experience of which 12 months will be have been as a Band 7/6 Ward/ Deputy Manager within the cardiology service
  • Evidence of Degree level study /  currently enrolled in Degree level study
  • Evidence of specialist qualification in cardiology or equivalent experience. 
  • Leadership skillls / qualification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Evidence of excellent attendance
