Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our audiology department at Royal Stoke hospital.  We are looking for a caring, motivated and passionate audiologist to join our friendly team on a full time basis.

The successful candidate will work as a Band 5 audiologist helping to deliver excellent patient centred assessments, hearing aid fittings and follow up appointments, whilst participating in the development of new ways of working in order to enhance the excellent service we currently provide.

If you have a BSC qualification in Healthcare Science Audiology or equivalent, along with NHS experience, we would be delighted to welcome you into the department.

Main duties of the job

Main duties:

  • Perform a full range of routine audiological procedures for all Audiology Clinics and pathways using BSA, BAA and trust policies and procedures
  •  
  • To perform assessment on both adults and children from around the age of 3 on ENT clinics
  •  
  • To fit and maintain a full range of hearing aids, using national and departmental guidelines and protocols, which includes verification methods
  •  
  • To undertake necessary routine audiological diagnostic tests and rehabilitation at the main site as well as working independently at local community sites
  •  
  • To counsel patients regarding their hearing loss as well as those with sometimes bothersome tinnitus
  •  
  • To take accurate impressions of patients ears and use knowledge to choose the appropriate ear mould and hearing aid for the patient’s needs
  •  
  • To use outcome forms to determine patient satisfaction
  •  
  • To provide support to audiologists, students and ATOs as required
  •  
  • Have appropriate UK registration and maintain CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of adult assessments
  • Experience of paediatric assessment
  • Evidence of regular, relevant CDP
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in NHS audiology department at Band 5 level
  • Previous experience of assessing children aged three years and above

Skills, ability, knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Routinely performs REMs to verify hearing aid fittings
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to successfully counsel tinnitus patients
