An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Imaging Directorate  for an enthusiastic and efficient individual to join the team as an Appointment Scheduler. 

The post will involve scheduling appointments ensuring that local and national waiting time targets are achieved and to deal with any enquiries, over the phone or face to face, in a courteous and professional manner.

 You will have excellent communication skills,  a caring  positive attitude.  Reliability and flexibility is essential to the role.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for individuals wishing to gain exposure to a wide range of skills within a fast paced department.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility and reliability in order to contribute to the delivery of a first class service to all users. This will include occasional weekend working.

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs / O levels (bands A – C) to include Maths & English or equivelant experience
  • IT skills at and advanced level
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in admin / clerical / customer service related area
  • ECDL / other IT qualification
  • Experience in using CRIS


Essential criteria
  • Minimum of one year’s experience of working in the NHS or other complex organisations
  • Computerised systems with the ability to use the Microsoft package
  • Handling confidential/sensitive information
  • Minimum of one year’s experience of dealing with patients / public / customers, either face to face or via the telephone, on a daily basis.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an appointment booking environment
  • Experience in dealing with waiting lists and targets
  • Experience of working in Ultrasound

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work to defined protocols and seek advice where appropriate
