1 x Permanent - 23 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Paediatric Emergency Care Team at Staffordshire Children's Hospital at Royal Stoke (SCH@RS). SCH@RS is part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM). UHNM is a £350 million state of the art hospital development that, along with County Hospital in Stafford, serves the population of Staffordshire and beyond, with both local and specialist tertiary services.

 

Main duties of the job

Child Health incorporates, Medicine including Children’s Assessment and Children’s Emergency Department, Surgery, Children’s intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care, Children’s Emergency portals of entrance and Children’s Outpatient services.

Child Health is supported by the multi-disciplinary team working in partnership with Paediatician’s, Medical teams, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Allied Health teams.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role of the band 5 Children’s Nurse within Child Health is to assess develop, implement and evaluate nursing care needs of children and families/carers within the ward or department in order to provide and maintain a high standard of informed and effective holistic care following a formal period of preceptorship. To participate and contribute to the teaching requirements of the ward and department.

To rotate to other clinical areas as requested, to meet the demands of the service and fulfil professional educational needs.

To participate in the development of clinical audit, ensuring that a prominent nursing contribution is made.
