University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust has an annual income of c£750m and over 11,000 dedicated staff operating across our two busy acute sites at Royal Stoke University Hospital and the County Hospital at Stafford. We provide a wide range of acute and specialist healthcare service to our local populations in Staffordshire, South

Cheshire and Shropshire and are also a Major Trauma Centre to a wider population of 3 million people stretching from Anglesey to the Peak District. As a University Hospital we have strong links with Keele and Staffordshire Universities for research, innovation and learning.

The Research and Innovation Directorate at UHNM participates in a broad range of studies across the healthcare sector - from novel interventions and drugs to device innovations which aim to improve quality of life and outcomes for our patients. Research Practitioners and Research Midwives work alongside research administration staff, clinical teams and support services to identify and consent potential research participants, discussing trials with patients and providing care throughout the studies. 

Our vision is to work collaboratively with our academic and commercial partners to develop and deliver high quality Research and Innovation, continually improving our efforts to ensure that we offer the highest standards of care and innovative interventions to the people of Staffordshire and beyond.
