Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, well motivated and progressive thinking individual to join the Sterile Services team at the County Hospital.
The Department has a team of 25 staff and provides a comprehensive service to 7 Operating Theatres, wards / departments and the local community. The service is fully accredited to BS EN ISO 13485 and Council Directive 93/42/EEC Annex V for Medical Devices. The department offers services to multiple specialities; Orthopaedic, General surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, Plastics.

Reporting to the Sterile Services Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the Unit, providing leadership, guidance, managerial and technical support to the existing team.




Main duties of the job

Duties include co-ordinating activities and resources to meet the production requirements for the processing of medical and surgical equipment. You will ensure that stringent quality standards are maintained through compliance with procedures, protocols and processes. Due to the specialist knowledge required, the role expects something of a ‘hands on’ approach.

You will be expected to make a significant contribution to further enhancement of the service and to be pro-actively involved in the seamless introduction of workloads and processes generated by new specialities, surgical advancements and decontamination guidance.
