Main duties of the job

Post - Clinical Nurse Endoscopist

Salary -  Band  8a ( 45.753-51,668)

Contract - Permanent Position, 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Endoscopist to join our team at UHNM, working at both our County Hospital and Royal Stoke sites. Our two endoscopy departments consisting of ten endoscopy rooms have a mix of medical and non-medical endoscopists, and we are excited to be able to recruit an additional nurse endoscopist due to service growth. This is not a training post as we are unable to provide additional training at this time.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key duties of this position will include: -

Independent upper / lower scoping lists
Outpatient clinics

Supporting gastrointestinal ward and vetting inpatients requiring endoscopy.

Training medical / non-medical endoscopists

Upper and lower 2ww vetting

Support with the endoscopy service


Within the department we have an excellent relationship with other key professionals in order to maximise efficiency of the services provided. These include staff internal and external to endoscopy including inpatient wards and GPs for direct access to test

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC registration
  • Registered Nurse
  • Experience of working in either upper and lower GI services
  • Masters qualification in health care
  • JAG accreditation in upper GI endoscopy
  • JAG accreditation in lower GI endoscopy
  • Health assessment qualification
  • Nurse Prescribing qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Naso endoscopy experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Sound theoretical and practical Knowledge of Gastroenterology Conditions
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in clinical situations
  • Experience to work within protocols
  • Able to work within a multidisciplinary team and also independently
