An exciting opportunity has arisen as for a Medical Secretary/Administration Support Officer within the Pathology Directorate at The University Hospitals of the North Midlands Trust (UHNM). This is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
UHNM is one of the largest and most modern hospitals in the country. We serve around three million people and we’re highly regarded for our facilities, teaching and research. The Trust has around 1,450 inpatient beds across sites in Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford. Our 11,700 strong workforce provide emergency treatment, planned operations and medical care from the Royal Stoke University Hospital (RSUH) and the County Hospital at Stafford. Our mission to provide the very best health care includes recruiting the best people. Our goal is to be a world-class centre of achievement, where patients receive the highest standards of care and the best people come to learn, work and research.
Following an NHSI initiative to establish 29 Pathology networks across England the University Hospital of North Midlands is currently working closely with Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts to establish a Pathology network across Staffordshire and Cheshire.
The successful post holder will work within a large and supportive Medical Secretarial Team within the Histology Office. Together with providing a secretarial service to Histopathology Consultants the role involves sending off samples and processing sample requests, liaising with laboratory staff and outside agencies. This is an exciting post for someone with Medical secretarial experience or Administration experience within the UHNM looking to learn new skills, therefore previous experience of working within a Medical Secretary environment would be desirable, but not essential as full training will be given on all aspects of this varied role.
The post holder will have skills in all areas of administrative functions to enable them to support the patient pathway, by using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure that functions of the role are carried out correctly within given timescales.
Please see job description and person specification for full role details.
If there is a high influx of applicants there is a possibility the job will be closed early.
