Job overview

We are currently seeking a proactive and dynamic band 5 Registered Nurse to work within our Imaging department across both sites of UHNM. Our unit consists of a 9 bedded Radiology Day Case Unit, 3 Interventional Radiology Theatres (2 Vascular and 1Vascular/ Neuro), CT and Ultrasound at our Royal Stoke base and CT, Ultrasound and 1 Interventional Radiology suite at County.

The UHNM NHS Trust covers Royal Stoke Hospital in Stoke on Trent and County Hospital in Stafford. Royal Stoke a large acute teaching hospital, with a Turnover of £360 million. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Our Interventional Radiology Suites provide specialised care to a number of specialities. We are increasingly striving to improve the patient pathway by making a lot of our procedures, day case procedures; these increasingly include Fibroid, Prostate and Testicular Embolisation.  Fistulaplasty’s and Angioplasty’s are also carried out as day case procedures.

We were the first Trust in the UK to specialise in the procedure of removing blood clots from large vessel occlusions on the brain (Mechanical Thrombectomy) offering a 24/7 service which means we cover an on call service.  We also cover a lot of emergency procedures on our on call service which include CT Guided drains, nephrostomy insertions, vascular traumas.  We are very proud of our award winning on call service provided by our team.  Once the successful applicant is fully trained within our department, they will be fully supported to also deliver care within the on call service.

This post would also suit a newly qualified band 5 nurse interested in joining an exciting and dynamic team. Visits to our department are encouraged to give the candidate more details of the role and to give more insight into the procedures.

Operational hours are as followed;

Radiology Day Case Unit: Early 7:30-15:30

                                           Mid   9:00-17:00

                                            Late 14:00-22:00

Interventional Radiology 09:00-17:00. During Interventional procedures, there is a requirement to wear a Lead Apron in accordance with Radiation Guidelines.
