1. The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse/Midwife has continuing responsibility for the management of the clinical area including assessment of care needs the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards.
2. The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse/Midwife will facilitate innovative and evidence based nursing/midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.
3. The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse/Midwife will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally and achieve their maximum potential.
4. The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse/Midwife will liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care.

Main duties of the job

Band 7  Transplant Senior Sister   Full Time 

We are currently looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking Band 7  in renal transplantation. 

This is a very exciting time to join the transplant nursing team at the University Hospital of North Midlands and play an integral role in delivering  pre and post-transplant nurse led services and advancing nursing practice within this speciality.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The transplant  team is cohesive and professional with a genuine interest and passion for providing a high standard of patient care. They are looking for an experienced / enthusiastic band 7 Sister/ Charge Nurse, educated to Degree level with a minimum of 3 years  experience of working as a Band 6 in Nephrology / Transplantation .

Applicants must be self-motivated and show evidence of a commitment to teaching and supporting other team members. A willingness to lead change in clinical practice is essential.

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 5 years post registration experience
  • 3 years’ experience in Renal Nursing at Band 6(Nephrology/ transplantation)
  • Degree level qualification in Health/Nursing Related Studies
Desirable criteria

  • Non-medical nurse prescribing
