Main duties of the job

The post will be based in Central Specimen Reception Macclesfield Hospital This is an interesting and important job, previous experience in this field is not essential as full training is given.

Working for our organisation

Following an NHSI initiative to establish 29 Pathology networks across England the University Hospital of North Midlands is currently working closely with Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts to establish a Pathology network across Staffordshire and Cheshire. 

Cheshire Pathology Services is a collaborative of the Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts that has been providing pathology services for this area for over 10 years.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of Education demonstrated by GCSEs or equivalent (in Maths, English and a Science subject)
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ L2 equivalent. This may include an Apprenticeship in a suitable field such as Clinical Laboratory Support or the IBMS Certificate of Achievement.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a team and alone
  • Experience of Data Entry and IT systems
Desirable criteria
  • Have an awareness of Health and Safety issues
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent keyboard skills and attention to detail
  • Work under pressure, prioritise workload and work to deadlines
Desirable criteria
  • Basic knowledge of word and excel
