 Leighton Hospital / Macclesfield Hospital and community clinics across Cheshire  

 30hrs permanent role

Main duties of the job

The post will be based in Leighton Hospital, permanent post, 30hrs part time   This is an interesting and important job, previous experience in this field is not essential as full training is given.

Our 11,000 strong workforce provide emergency treatment, planned operations and medical care from Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford.

We are the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales. Following an NHSI initiative to establish 29 Pathology networks across England the University Hospital of North Midlands is currently working closely with Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts to establish a Pathology network across Staffordshire and Cheshire. 

Cheshire Pathology Services is a collaborative of the Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts that has been providing pathology services for this area for over 10 years.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for a suitably qualified, enthusiastic, highly motivated and appropriately registered healthcare professional; preferably, with previous anticoagulation experience to join our friendly team.

Duties will include; assisting in the education of patients starting oral anticoagulants, dealing with telephone queries relating to treatment, working at outreach clinics alongside MLA’s, using the “DAWN AC” software to monitor and dose patients INR’s.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be an appropriately registered healthcare professional with an interest in Anticoagulation, have good organisational and communication skills, hold a full driving license and the regular use of your own car is essential as there are requirements to travel between clinics within the community.

Flexibility of start/finish time is essential; this is currently Monday – Friday between 08:30 – 18:00.

Anticoagulation experience is preferred but not necessary as full training will be provided.

This post is based at Leighton Hospital but cross-site working at Macclesfield Hospital will be a requirement at times.

  • BSc Hons Biomedical Science
  • Registration with the HCPC
  • Evidence of CPD

Experience

  • Be able to supervise support staff

  • Previous laboratory or anticoagulation experience
  • Experience of direct patient contact
